How will the future President improve education in the U.S.?

THANKS, Mindy. I'm glad you brought this to our attention. I I like what Obama said, particularly his comments about assessment and the lack of respect and support for teachers. I've learned through my childrens' experiences that a child can gain tremendous growth over a year or two period, in spite of poor test results. (Not all of us are great test-takers, and this fact is NOT taken into account.) Hillary's comments about NCLB were interesting, too, though I think the purpose of enacting the law is worthy, but the way it is being fulfilled needs reevaluating. I like what Clinton said about the government paying the way for teachers, which would prove making an investment it what lawmakers are preaching. (A good business concept.) The 2-year national service idea concerns me, however: Does it mean mandatory military service?? Thought-provoking, for sure.
